Currently on the City & Guilds Level 2 Home Study Plumbing Course is student Diego Campos Valverde. Being very a popular option amongst all of our Plumbing Courses, we caught up with Diego to find out a bit more about why he chose Able Skills as well as why he's getting into the trade!
Firstly, What Were You Doing Before and Why The Home Study Option?
Well I currently work in a pub so that's why I chose the Home Study Option. I don't have the time to do 6 weeks in one go so I would rather pick and choose when I can come in and train. It's a lot more flexible for me and it means I get to keep my current job too!
When it's done I'll get the exact same qualification as the guys who are doing it full time so logically, it made a lot of sense for me.
So Why Able Skills Plumbing Courses?
Well before I worked in a Pub, I actually used to work in tourism back in Costa Rica and got to travel all around South America. Alongside that, my family have an established Plumbing Business there which I used to work in. So I already have some good plumbing experience but I need the right qualifications to start officially working here.
I searched online for the best Plumbing Courses and Able Skills came up first which made me call you guys as well as other places. Able Skills definitely seemed the most reliable and you also offered the right certification. I even called City & Guilds to check if you were really City & Guilds accredited because a lot of places weren't and they said Able Skills certainly were.
What Do You Plan On Doing After?
Well I've already booked my Gas Training Course starting in August. After that I'm going to start working out on site for a while before I come back to get my NVQ in Plumbing later on.
I'd just liked to add that the teaching has been really good, my instructor explained things really well and we got given all necessary tools to complete the course. The facilities are really impressive too.
A lot of students even come back to undergo one of our Part P Courses just to add to their skill set. This involves Domestic Electrics, which is one of the several Electrical Courses available.
