Why is becoming a plumber a great plan in 2020?

How much do plumbers make?
This is obviously a question that is on everyone's mind when they are looking at beginning on the path towards a new career. The current average for plumbers is sitting around £32,000 but it is highly dependent on the type of work that you are doing. For those who work for themselves, you can see much higher earnings than this and ultimately there is no limit to the amount you can make, some plumbers even earn around £200,000 per year!
How are the hours?
It is estimated that a plumber usually works 37-40 hours a week. However, the self-employed often find that their working hours are much longer. Even though installations and repairs might be done in a traditional working week, plumbers are sometimes ‘on call’ for emergencies so they may be called out at night or during the weekend.
No experience? If you have limited or no experience in the world of plumbing then we recommend that you fist take on our Introduction to Plumbing course - The course is a total of 5-days...During which you will learn the fundamentals of the trade - The course is entirely hands-on and is ideal for anyone looking to learn basic domestic plumbing but additionally can act as a great taster course for anyone who is considering Plumbing qualifications and a career as a Plumber. You will learn the following topics:
- Plumbing systems and fittings
- Soldering techniques
- Jointing, bending and pressure testing copper tube
- Dealing with valves, taps, cisterns
- Plumbing pipework
The course will cover all of the obvious issues that can arise within a domestic property in an attempt to teach you how to deal with certain things but more importantly, will provide guidance on when/if you really do need to call out a Plumber.
Now...After completing this course / if you have some previous experience then the course that you are looking for is our City & Guilds Level 2 Plumbing course which is the perfect starting point for aspiring plumbers. If you want to become a qualified Plumber then this industry recognised entry level 2 will be your starting point. You will start with the very basics and progress to a comprehensive understanding of domestic plumbing covering both theory and practical to enable you to work successfully as a Plumber.
