Able Skills is a training centre that has been around for a long time, we run a large variety of courses - One of our most popular is the skill of plumbing, this skill has always been a solid choice of trade to make a career out of, but this fact has never been more true that right now! This is for a few different reasons including the massive volume of work that is out there, construction in the UK is constantly on the rise with over 300,000 homes being built each year there is a demand for plumbers. On top of the general rise in overall construction of all types not just homes there is also a 'skills gap' still at large...
The skills gap boils down to the fact that there simply are not enough skilled workers in this trade, people are not taking up the skill whilst simultaneously the older generation of plumbers are retiring, meaning that there are not as many traders as are needed. The skills gap however has some benefits for current workers and new plumbers in terms of earnings, put simply because of the sheer demand contractors are paying more and more to secure workers of this type. This is especially relevant for those who work for themselves. Overall self-employed plumbers saw a rise of 4.1% in November, this is not just in the Capital, self-employed plumbers in the North West saw the strongest growth in earnings in November, rising 15.9% to £986 per week! This is all down to the literal demand, so what's the excuse for not getting involved with this trade in 2020?

Ready for training?
If you have little to no experience then you may want to fist begin with our Introduction to Plumbing courses, this 5-day training course, will help you to become familiar and confident in the fundamentals of the trade. If you have some knowledge/experience or you have already completed this course then the next logical step would be our City & Guilds Level 2 Plumbing Course - This course is the best way to start of the path towards becoming a qualified Plumber. This industry recognised entry level 2 will be your starting point. You will start with the very basics and progress to a comprehensive understanding of domestic plumbing covering both theory and practical to enable you to work legitimately and effectively as a Plumber.
