Why take Gas courses at Able Skills?
Looking into becoming a Gas Engineer? Here at our training centre, we have been providing Gas training courses for many years. We know what goes into the process of going from a beginner in the trade, learning the fundamentals to a competent person who is industry-ready. Today we are going to go through some of the main things you should keep in mind whilst looking for a training centre. Additionally, we will look at the Gas courses that we have to offer and what you need in preparation for work out in the industry!
What should you be looking for?
- Firstly, you should be looking for a centre that provides industry-recognised qualifications. There's no point training without the end goal of achieving qualifications that are valuable and acknowledged by those in the industry. Here at Able Skills, we are a Bpec approved centre - BPEC also known as the British Plumbing Employers Council is an industry-leading specialised provider of qualifications and assessments. As a governing body, they are equivalent to City & Guilds when it comes to qualifications in the world of Gas Engineers.
- Secondly, you should be thinking about how much experience the centre has and their reputation. Do your research, it is important to do some investigating online, check some recent reviews and try to get a sense of the kind of experience you will receive from their Gas courses. For example, we have been providing Gas training courses for over 18+ years and have plenty of reviews online for people to see as our students go on to work successfully in the industry with a new-found confidence gain here at our centre.
- Next, make sure that you go and visit the centre in person. It may be inconvenient to travel to a training centre, however, you will be spending a considerable amount of money for training, it is important to see the quality of the training on offer in person. We have an open policy here at our centre and encourage aspiring traders to visit us in person anytime they'd like during the week, you can come in ask questions and take a guided look around for yourself.
What are the benefits of our centre?
Here at our training centre, we aim to make the process as simple and as straightforward as possible for our students, firstly, we do this by offering flexible payment options meaning that students can pay for their training on a weekly basis instead of paying up front. Another benefit is the quality of our instructors, they are absolute experts in their trade and will not only teach you the theory and practical side of the trade but will also give you an insight into how the industry works and tell you the lessons they learn when starting out themselves. We also supply all of the materials, tools and appliances you could possibly need in our workshops.
What courses do we offer?
Becoming a Gas Engineer isn't just a job, its a career with many different avenues to pursue. It's also not an easy trade to learn, however, we aim to make the process from start to finish as clear and plain sailing as possible. We do this by putting all of the training you need into packages, our New Entrant Gas Training Package 2 includes everything you need to start out; 7-weeks of hand-on learning, portfolio completion and an ACS assessment - all of which are required to become a Gas Safe Engineer and in preparation to register with the Gas Safe Register!
Following the completion of this 7-week gas training, you will be deemed competent to undertake supervised gas work and so the next step towards Gas Safe registration will be to demonstrate your competence in the work-place and you do this by working alongside a Gas Safe Registered Engineer who acts as your on-site verifier, helping you to build a portfolio of evidence and prove your competence and safety working with Gas. Finally, you will complete an ACS assessment here at our centre and in the end be ready for Gas Safe Registration.
