After 15 years working in sales, William made the bold decision to change and do something that will make him happier and a career he will love. He started by training at Able Skills in Dartford to swap Sales for Decorating.
William booked himself onto the City & Guilds Painting & Decorating course, the five week course was the perfect option for William as he knew what he wanted to do in the future.
A new career was on the cards for William after he decided he wanted to be able to spend more time with his family and working as a sales manager in London was eating into his family time. The long working hours and the long commute are now past William as he now prepares for the world of construction when his painting and decorating course finishes today.
When William decided to make his career change he had a very tough choice, but decorating was the one for him as he has always enjoyed painting and decorating. The idea of doing a career in something he really enjoyed was a huge factor in him choosing to take this route into the construction industry.
Although he really enjoyed his career in sales, the back burn of it was the lack of family time and that his mind was constantly on his work life. This is now going to change in his new self-employed career as a Painter and Decorator.
He is fully prepared already to go out and work, with the business cards ready and his new skills ready to begin working straight away. William also has work opportunities to gain some experience working with someone else which will really help him improve his knowledge and skills.
William was extremely pleased with the work that decorating instructor, Mark has put in to help him develop during his course. He really appreciated the demonstrations and advice received from Mark, who was always on hand to answer any questions he had. Also, William has built up some really good friendships at Able Skills with other students on the same decorating courses as him. This has helped him and the others to learn from each other.
Here is some of William's most recent work, he plans to use these new skills for his son's benefit.
Overall, William said he was extremely happy with the decision he made to change his career. He was more than happy with the training he has received at Able Skills to help him well on his way to start his new career.
