A female plumber has urged other women to take plumbing courses and described the industry as "great" to work in.
Speaking to Thisiswiltshire.co.uk, Aimee Patterson described how many elderly customers actually prefer ladies to carry out installation and maintenance procedures in the homes.
Ms Patterson, who recently won the BBC's young plumber of the year award, described how she is a strong character, but suggested that plenty of other women might enjoy taking plumbing courses and joining the profession.
Commenting on her award, she was quoted as saying: "I was shocked and pleased that I won, it's a good award to win. It proves women are just as good as male plumbers."
The 23-year-old emerged victorious over two male technicians during the two-day finals of the contest.
This week, the Association of Plumbing and Heating Contractors urged online auction site eBay to limit sales of certain trade components to tradesmen with relevant training.
