The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) announced yesterday (November 11th) that it had succeeded in delivering more than 50,000 new homes in its first year.
With so many construction projects taking place in 2009, workers with approved electrical or plumbing qualifications, plasterers, bricklayers and other industry professionals could have found themselves in high demand to help the HCA ensure that the new homes were fitted out to a high standard.
HCA chief executive Sir Bob Kerslake commented that he expected the agency to continue its good work for the next couple of years.
"This year and next will be equally challenging but we will continue to deliver against our targets, identify new funding streams and new ways of working and maximise the impact of every pound of public money we invest," he said.
It was recently revealed by the HCA that a new initiative with the Department of Energy and Climate Change worth £5 million will see more environmentally friendly homes being built from renewable sources.
