DIY dads are finding that they are sustaining injuries while carrying out home improvements, which could lead some to hire professionals who have completed plumbing courses.
Research carried out by Marks & Spencer Money showed that 200,000 people end up in hospital each year as a result of DIY jobs in the home and head of general insurance at the firm Andrew Ferguson claimed that even simple projects can go wrong.
He pointed out that there tends to be a spike in the number of people attempting home improvements at the beginning of springtime and implied that certain projects could be better tackled by people who have taken proper training, such as plumbing courses.
Mr Ferguson remarked: "If people are attempting more complex DIY projects at home that should really be carried out by professionals - they are risking much more serious consequences than having to replace ruined carpeting."
A representative from New West End Company recently noted that the May bank holiday tends to be a very popular time for people to undertake home improvements.
