Decorating courses students may be aware of a new trend in interior design, which has seen customers opt for more homely styles.
This is the view of Simon Hamilton, director of Simon Hamilton & Associates, who suggested that people want to feel more secure in their surroundings as a result of the unsettled economic situation in the UK.
Workers signed up to decorating courses may wish to pay attention to this trend, particularly since Mr Hamilton stressed it is "definitely" a pattern he has noticed.
Regarding the trend, he remarked: "I wouldn't say traditional, but it is less clinical and minimal - it's more comfortable and homely. People want to feel more comfortable at home and at work."
Writing for the Daily Telegraph recently, Katrina Burroughs noted that many of the new colours being offered by paint and fabric manufacturers are quite "brazen", which she claimed is better suited to more adventurous times.
