A home insurance firm has suggested the extreme weather conditions being experienced in the UK could lead to more leaking and burst pipes, which could lead to work for technicians who have completed plumbing courses.
Home insurance expert at Hiscox Austyn Tusler urged consumers to try to spot problems early by generally being vigilant over the state of a home's plumbing system.
In his opinion, the early arrival of snow and ice may have caught people unawares and led to an increased number of problems, which may have led to a rise in residential contracts for tradesmen with plumbing course experience.
"Unchecked, a leak can quickly turn into large amounts of water gushing into attics or lofts, damaging the structure, electrical wiring and belongings," said Mr Tusler.
A representative from utility firm Scottish Water recently told BBC News that the company is expecting to see more problems as a result of the freezing weather.
