Plumbing course attendee Matthew Teague has been named the best apprentice of the year and won the John Bryant Cup.
The 20-year-old received the two accolades at the South West Peninsula Branch of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering Awards ceremony in Plymouth this week, according to the Herald Express.
He attended a plumbing course at South Devon College and the programme co-ordinator at the school Phil Treleaven lauded the student's support for other pupils, as well as his enthusiasm for plumbing.
"We are proud that South Devon College's own Matthew Teague was, in the judge's view, a unanimous winner," Mr Treleaven was quoted as saying.
Mr Teague is now employed by Mike Ruth Plumbing, with his boss and two of his tutors joining the youngster at the awards ceremony.
This month, Aimee Patterson won the BBC young plumber of the year prize after facing off against several other apprentices in the profession.
