Bury Council has organised an event in conjunction with Six Town Housing which will encourage young locals to consider a career in the construction industry.
The Built, Housing and Construction Event will take place on November 10th and will offer advice to people hoping to start work in the building sector or to those unsure about their future plans, giving the chance to speak to experts and company representatives from the likes of Laing O'Rourke and Connexions.
An ageing workforce in the industry in Bury and the north-west in general has been acknowledged by the council as a problem that may lead to a lack of workers able to carry out building work to a sufficient quality in the future.
This emphasis on good standards and new professionals needed to come into the sector underlines the necessity of approved electrical qualifications and a workforce that have taken accredited plumbing, tiling and plastering courses.
Bury Council recently announced that it is sponsoring a major skills fair on November 4th in the town hall, where people can get career advice on a wide range of difference industries.
