Having provided gas training and ACS assessment for quite some time and having worked closely with Gas Engineers, it has become apparent that individuals knowledge of boiler service, repair and maintenance is quite minimal. To combat this, we have devised very comprehensive 5 day boiler fault finding courses:
Boiler Fault Finding:
Safe and correct use of a multimeter
Safe electrical testing
Identifying boiler components and their function including:
Pumps
Switches
Fans
Gas valves
Temperature sensors and stats
How to test these components
Outline common faults and remedial steps on:

Introduction to different heating system controls, their function and how they work
This 5 day course has been devised by Able Skills gas team. This course is a mixture of theory and practical, candidates will be working across a range of different boiler makes, old and new to ensure a broader understanding is achieved. All systems at Able Skills are fully operational, providing you with a realistic working environment. The heating controls aspect of this course will ensure an understanding of the various different types of wiring systems and diagnosis of heating control faults. Multimeter training will be a large and integral part of this course, showing you how to set the multimeter and use it correctly to identify faults on both heating system controls and boilers.
This particular course can potentially save you and your customers both time and money by enabling you to identify a potential repair to a boiler rather than an immediate replacement. Your knowledge of boiler systems will be greatly enhanced, allowing you to offer a wider range of services to your customers. Able Skills has been delivering very comprehensive gas training courses, both domestic and commercial since 2006. We have an excellent relationship with Bpec, our certificating body and the training that we have provided has also been recognised by Gas Safe as being of a standard that the industry requires. Please be advised that this course is only available to Gas Safe registered Engineers or candidates who have undertaken Able Skills Gas Managed Learning Programme.

Able Skills offers gas training for new entrants looking to access the industry and we also offer ACS initial and reassessment.
Location
All of our courses take place at our dedicated training centre in Dartford, Kent. The centre is easily accessible by road, being just 10 minutes from junction 1a on the M25. We are only a short walk from Dartford train station which is served by frequent trains taking 35 minutes from central London. For anyone travelling from further away, we have our own accommodation available at only £25 per night.
We are open Mon - Fri and 2 weekends per month for training and visitors so if you would like to find out more about this course or about Able Skills, please feel free to pop in, no appointment necessary.
