Joint filler and joint cement
Hand jointing techniques to all joints leaving a smooth finish
Sanding down and sealing for decoration
On completion of this course, you will have gained the confidence and technique required to undertake Dry lining jobs and achieve an acceptable finish.
During this course, we will ensure that you have a good working knowledge of health and safety requirements for Dry lining/Taping & Jointing, including the use of correct personal protective equipment (PPE).
You will be able to interpret drawings and specifications to identify material requirements, select and prepare appropriate materials, prepare backgrounds to receive finishes and install components and materials for accuracy and finish.
Whichever option you choose, we will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to carry out Dry lining/Taping & Jointing to industry standards, both training options are suitable for anyone who requires training in Dry Lining/Taping & Jointing.
The term dry lining/taping & jointing applies to the use of plasterboard to replace a sand and cement or wet plaster finish to internal block work, although it’s use has become more broadly associated with internal fit-out throughout a building. Other advantages to using dry lining systems include the fact that the use of lightweight partitions result in a lighter building which can benefit the specification of the foundations. Dry Lining systems also provide properties with greater flexibility in designing and changing the internal shape of a property as needs change.
In addition, dry lining systems also give flexibility in the choice of insulation materials, which may not be available with conventional building methods. In timber frame, dry lining/taping & jointing is the preferred method of building.
This is a hands-on, practical course and it is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential.
