The Experienced Worker Assessment (EWA) is for electricians who have been working in the industry for at least 5 years (not including time spent in full or part time training) and who hold a recognised level 2 Electrical Installation qualification but have not formally completed an industry apprenticeship or equivalent Level 3 NVQ qualification. You will need to demonstrate knowledge, understanding and competence to the standard of the Level 3 electrotechnical apprenticeship. The qualification is not suitable for new entrants to the electrotechnical industry, apprentices, or those who have completed an electrotechnical technical qualification with less than five years relevant experience as an electrician. In this case, the route to take will be Level 3 NVQ Diplomas in Electrotechnical Technology (NVQ 2357).

The NVQ level 3 is not a training course; it is an assessment of your competence and is mandatory for those of you who require JIB Gold Card status. The NVQ is relatively easy to achieve as long as you are working within the electrical industry and have access to the right kind of work. Achievement of the Experienced Worker Assessment C&G 2346-03 NVQ Level 3 in full is based upon:
Once you have contacted Able Skills, we will send you a Skills Scan and Candidate Background form to determine your eligibility for this route to NVQ level 3. Following confirmation of your eligibility, we will issue you with an assessment pack for completion – this will include areas for witness testimonies and a letter of reference from your current employer (where applicable). Once these documents are returned to us, the next step will be to book you in for a detailed profiling session at Able Skills with an Electrical NVQ Assessor where the processes for achieving the NVQ will be explained. You will then be assessed at your workplace where Able Skills Assessors will gather documentary evidence of your competence with regards to various different aspects of an Electrical installation.
To achieve the NVQ (C&G 2346-03) in full, you will also need to have C&G 2382, level 3 Inspection & Testing C&G 2391-50/52 and then the last assessment will be the AM2E.
The candidate will also be expected to demonstrate acceptable knowledge of the current industry requirements with respect to the IET Wiring Regulations and Inspection & Testing. As part of the programme of assessment to achieve this qualification it will be considered necessary for the candidate to undertake (separately) the C&G 2382 (18th Edition) and C&G 2391-50 or 52.
